Shikhandi is the reincarnation of Amba, who was scorned by Bhishma. Shikhandi fought in the Kurukshetra war for his brothers-in-law, the Pandavas, and was instrumental in the death of Bhishma. In Javanese wayang tradition, Shikhandi is known as Srikandi and is born as a male, and changes into female. Shikhandi was a warrior who fought in the Kurukshetra war and killed Bhishma, the invincible prince of Hastinapura. He was the reincarnation of Amba, a princess who was abducted, rejected, and cursed by Bhishma in her previous life. The Sanskrit terms Śikhaṃḍī and Śikhaṇḍi and Śikhaṇḍī and Śikhaṇḍin can be transliterated into English as Sikhamdi or Shikhamdi or Sikhandi or Shikhandi or Sikhandin or Shikhandin, using the IAST transliteration scheme (?).
