This article briefly overviews the expiry days for tradable contracts. What is Expiry Day? The expiry day of an F&O contract is the day on which it is due for settlement between the buyers and sellers of the contract. Starting April 4, 2025, all derivatives expiry days change from Thursday to Monday. NIFTY weekly contracts will now expire on Monday of each week instead of Thursday. The restructuring poses a potential realignment of expiry days to improve market efficiency. The new Monday expiry will force a change in strategy for the majority of traders. Market Analysts have predicted that there will be some changes in trading activity, especially on Fridays before the expiry. Changes will come into force from April 5, 2025. NSE also shifted F&O expiry for Bank Nifty, FinNifty, Nifty Midcap Select and Nifty Next50 to the last Monday of the expiry month with effective from April 4. "The circular shall come into effect ...
