Mannitol IV 20% Injection is a medicine used in the treatment of acute renal (kidney) failure, cerebral edema (accumulation of excessive fluid in the brain) and to reduce the pressure inside the eyes in a condition called glaucoma. Mannitol (Osmitrol) is an injection medication used for diuresis for treatment and prevention of decreased urine production in acute kidney failure. Mannitol is also used to decrease intracranial pressure and brain mass with patients with swelling in the brain.
