Located in Gudimallam village near Tirupati, this small shrine – formally known as the Parasurameswara Swamy Temple – is among the oldest Shiva temples in India still in worship. It has a rich history spanning over two millennia, with multiple phases of construction and patronage. Gudimallam is located on a diversion from the Tiruchanur Road, at a distance of about 31 Km from Tirupati and 18 Km from Renigunta. Buses are available from Tirupati Bus Stand, but there are only a few buses travelling on this route. The Gudimallam Temple is considered to be the oldest Shiva temple identified so far tracing to 3rd century BC. The Lord here is known as Parasurameswara and this lingam is believed to depict the trinity. The legend of the temple connects it to Parasurama, an avatar of Lord Vishnu.
