WHEREAS it is expedient to consolidate and amend the law regulating and labour in factories; It is hereby enacted as follows:- 1. Short title, extent and commencement.— (1) This Act may be called the Factories Act, 1948. (3) It shall come into force on the 1st day of April 1949. 2. Interpretation.— The Factories Act, 1948 is a law that regulates the working conditions and safety of workers in factories in India.
