Typically: A cervix measuring less than 2.5 cm before 24 weeks of pregnancy may indicate a risk of preterm labor. There are essentially four methods that can be used to evaluate the uterine cervix: digital examination, transabdominal ultrasound, transperineal ultrasound and transvaginal ultrasound.
