Capital of haryana: Chandigarh is the capital

Chandigarh is the capital city of Haryana which it shares with Punjab. The present day Haryana is a fast developing state and has been a major contributor to the green revolution in India. Haryana has also produced many athletes who have won laurels for India in various games including Asian games, Commonwealth games and the Olympics. The city of Chandigarh , within the Chandigarh union territory, serves as the capital of that territory and also the states of Haryana and Punjab. Haryana was created in 1966 from the partition of the former state of Punjab into Punjabi-speaking Punjab and Hindi-speaking Haryana. Chandigarh is the union territory and the capital of two states, Haryana and Punjab. The city is not in the two states and comes under the union government of the country if there is one. Infact, the Centre had offered a Rs 20 crore in grant and loan to Haryana for setting up the new capital , according to the government release. Later in 2018, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar asked to create a special body for the development of Chandigarh, but the Punjab CM rejected it, saying the city “indisputably belonged to Punjab”.
