In the 1700s, Irish and Scottish immigrants came to Kentucky and Tennessee and started making whisky , creating a tradition. Bourbon has had a colourful history. Even as the French (House of Bourbon ) and the Americans ( Bourbon County) fight it out for this spirit’s naming rights, the history of bourbon whiskey dates back over 200 years. European farmers settled in America in the late 1700s and early 1800s brought their distilling knowledge with them. Bourbon is a type of American whiskey , distilled from a mash made primarily of corn. Despite it’s popularity, the spirit remains a mystery to many.
