In Indian service, the S-400 has been officially named 'Sudarshan' or 'Sudarshan Chakra' after the mythological weapon of Lord Krishna, reflecting its powerful defensive capabilities. India has procured five squadrons of the S-400 system, a long-range surface-to-air missile system developed by Russia, for ₹35,000 crore. The system can engage a variety of aerial threats, including drones, stealth aircraft, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles.
