The Gharial is a critically endangered crocodilian species native to the rivers of the Indian subcontinent. It is distinguished by its long, narrow snout, which is adapted for catching fish, its primary diet. The gharial can be described, simply, as a large, long-snouted, fish-eating, riverdwelling crocodilian endemic to the Indian subcontinent.
