Devanahalli: The Devanahalli Fort

The Devanahalli Fort, famed for being Tipu Sultan’s birth-place, is located beyond the Bangalore Airport, off NH7. It also houses temples. Devanahalli was initially a part of Gangawadi and later came under the reign of several dynasties including Rashatrakutas, Nolamba, Pallavas, Cholas, Hoysalas and the Vijayanagara rulers. Devanahalli, located about 40 km to the north of Bangalore , is a historic town known for its rich cultural heritage and scenic beauty. The town is famous as the birthplace of Tipu Sultan, the legendary ruler of Mysore, and boasts numerous historical sites and natural attractions. Operates a strategic arterial 22 km six lane toll road in the state of Karnataka, connecting Bengaluru city and its airport. The project was awarded by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for upgradation of road from 4 lanes to 6 lanes on Build-Operate-Transfer basis.
