Atal Setu , also known as Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri–Nhava Sheva Atal Setu , is a 21.8 km expressway bridge that connects Mumbai with Navi Mumbai. It was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January 2024 and is the world's 12th longest sea bridge. Atal Setu is the longest bridge in India and also the longest sea bridge in the country. The bridge is about 21.8 km long six-lane bridge having about 16.5 km length over sea and about 5.5 km on the land. The bridge has been named after former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The Atal Setu , linking from Sewri in south Mumbai to Nhava Sheva in Navi Mumbai, will cut down the journey from the current two hours to just around 15-20 minutes.
